Over 1 million registrants for Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Step 2 Registration were recorded in National Capital Region (NCR)-CAMANAVA and 7 provinces across Luzon and Visayas.

As of 05 October 2021, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reports a total of 11,254,609 million Filipinos completing their PhilSys Step 2 Registration from cities in the NCR and seven other provinces, namely: NCR-CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela), 1,176,053; Pangasinan, 1,253,686; Bulacan, 1,046,965; Pampanga, 1,014,382; Iloilo, 1,218,166; Negros Occidental, 1,647,906; Cebu, 2,554,237; and Leyte, 1,343,214.

“These milestones are manifestations of our commitment to provide service to Filipinos through PhilSys. We extend our congratulations and deepest thanks to the PSA Field Offices and local government units (LGUs) of these cities and provinces for their dedication and commitment to register their constituents to PhilSys. We expect more cities and provinces to join the roster in the coming weeks. Our Field Offices are working hard in promoting PhilSys registration while maintaining strict adherence to health and safety protocols,” said PSA Undersecretary Dennis S. Mapa, Ph.D., National Statistician and Civil Registrar General.

Nueva Ecija, Batangas, Rizal, and Camarines Sur are anticipated to break the 1 million mark for completed Step 2 Registrations in the next few weeks.

PhilSys Step 2 Registration, which involves validating supporting documents and collecting biometric information such as iris scans, fingerprints, and front-facing photographs at local registration centers, is being implemented nationwide since January 2021.

Moreover, the PSA has built partnerships with local mall operators, other government agencies, and private companies to grant more registration opportunities to Filipinos looking to register to PhilSys. In May and June 2021, the PSA signed a partnership with Robinsons Malls and SM Supermalls, respectively, to use their facilities to conduct PhilSys Step 2 Registration in select branches nationwide.

PhilSys registration centers operate in strict compliance with health and safety protocols imposed by the local Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID), and with guidance from their respective LGUs. Step 2 registrants are strictly advised to wear face masks and face shields. The PSA also reminds registrants to bring their pen and alcohol, and observe social distancing when going to registration centers to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
