Public interest in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) online registration continues to increase as more individuals register for the national ID. As of 13 May 2021, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has recorded a total of 849,862 registrants who have completed the online Step 1 Registration.

The pilot online Step 1 Registration began on 30 April 2021, and was received well despite technical errors the website encountered. PSA continues to develop user-management strategies to improve the website and accommodate more registrants.

Close to 34 million have already completed the Step 1 registration via the house-to-house collection of demographic data in priority provinces. The launch of the online Step 1 Registration aims to boost the general public’s engagement with PhilSys without compromising health and safety protocols.

Step 1 Registration will be followed by Step 2 Registration, which involves capturing a registrant’s biometric data such as their iris scans, fingerprint scans, and front-facing photograph at local registration centers. The third and final step of PhilSys registration will involve the issuance of the PhilSys Number (PSN) and the physical ID or the PhilID. The PSN is a randomly generated number that will serve as a permanent identification number for every registrant.

PhilSys aims to provide a formal identification to Filipinos to ease the delivery of services and make public and private transactions seamless, safe, and efficient. PhilSys is also anticipated to ease the public’s access to financial, social protection, health, education, and other government services.

For the latest information on PhilSys, visit the official PhilSys website (www.psa.gov.ph/philsys) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/PSAPhilSysOfficial/). You may also reach the PhilSys Registry Office via hotline number 1388 or e-mail at info@philsys.gov.ph.
