11 May 2020, Quezon City - The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has called for potential bidders of the Systems Integrator (SI) for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) to start with their preparatory activities as procurement is set to rollout on May 2020. The SI is the final and most critical prerequisite for registration as it will ensure that major components of the PhilSys are seamlessly interconnected and fully functional. The PSA targets to register at least 5 million household heads by the end of 2020.

The PSA posted this week the SI’s project information memorandum for the advanced information of potential bidders to fast-track preparatory stages prior the launch of tender. The SI procurement is expected to be awarded in about ten (10) weeks from May 2020.

The PSA reassures the public that work is continuous towards the accelerated implementation of PhilSys this year, with the goal of registering majority of Filipinos and resident aliens by end of 2022.

The PhilSys aims to provide a valid proof of identity for Filipino citizens and resident aliens in the Philippines to promote effective and efficient transactions with the public and private sector. Further, the system shall serve as the link in the promotion of social service delivery and strengthening of financial inclusion. It also aims to contribute in enhancing administrative governance, reducing corruption, and promoting ease of doing business.
