- Producer Price Index maintains single-digit growth in April 2014
Producer Price Index (PPI, 2000=100) for manufacturing slowly moved up to 0.1 percent in April 2014. Petroleum products led the sectors that posted increases as it reflected a higher uptick of 13.6 percent. Meanwhile, single-digit growths were also observed in two heavily weighted sectors namely: food manufacturing (4.5%) and electrical machinery (4.0%). On the other hand, decreases were posted by eight sectors led by furniture and fixtures (-27.9%). Refer to Tables 1 and A-1.
On a monthly basis, PPI went down by 5.0 percent in April 2014. Fourteen of the 20 major sectors reflected negative monthly growth rates resulting in the negative performance of the PPI. On the other hand, two sectors posted flat growths. Refer to Tables 1 and A-2

Starting with January 2013 reference month, the PPI utilizes the 2009 Philippine Standard Industry Classification (PSIC) to classify sectors and industries.
