· Producer Price Index (PPI) registers single-digit increase
Producer Price Index (PPI) for the manufacturing industry on a year-on-year basis grew slightly by 5.8 percent in December 2006. Seventeen (17) sectors posted positive growths, led by electrical machinery which registered 27.2 percent. Four (4) other major sectors posted two-digit price increases, namely: leather products, machinery excluding electrical, footwear and wearing apparel, and rubber products. Refer to Tables 1 and 1-A.
On a monthly basis, PPI increased by 0.5 percent in December 2006. This was brought about by the price increases in eight (8) major sectors led by non-metallic mineral products with a 3.5 percent increase. Refer to Tables 1 and 1-B.
· Response Rate
The response rate for December 2006 is 92.9 percent, which corresponds to the retrieval of 249 sample establishments' reports. Refer to Table 2.

· Technical Notes
Weights for the PPI are based from the results of the 2003 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) for manufacturing establishments with average total employment (ATE) of 20 and over.
Data of non-responding sample establishments are estimated based on previous records and other available sources. Revisions to the preliminary estimates are done upon receipt of actual reports of late respondents.
