The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Board approved through a referendum the Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP) 2011-2017 Update on 28 December 2015.

PSA Resolution No. 14, s. 2015 enjoins all agencies in the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) to cooperate in the adoption and implementation of the PSDP 2011-2017 Update. It further directs all concerned government agencies to work closely with the PSA and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) in allocating financial and human resources required for the implementation of the updated PSDP 2011-2017, as well as for its monitoring and evaluation.

The PSDP 2011-2017 sets the strategic directions, thrusts and priorities of the PSS in the medium term to provide vital information support to national, sectoral and local development plans as well as international commitments. It also provides framework for development, generation and dissemination of statistics for evidence-based policies, plans and decisions of the government, stakeholders and data users.

Recent developments have surfaced within and around the PSS, such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ASEAN integration, data revolution and the addition of the Revalidated Results Matrices in the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2011-2016 which was released in 2014. Updating of the PSDP 2011-2017 was carried out to address the information needs of these developments, as well as to continually respond to existing requirements of development planning and policy-making at the national and local levels.

The PSDP 2011-2017 Update covers chapters on PSS-wide concerns such as the management and coordination of the PSS, statistical capacity building, statistical information management and coordination, and local statistics; chapters on sectoral clusters on macroeconomy and finance, agriculture, industry and services, infrastructure development, social development, environment, technology, governance, and peace and security; and new chapters on the SDGs and civil registration and vital statistics.
