The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) granted clearance for the conduct of 2022 Occupational Wages Survey (OWS). The OWS is a biennial establishment-based survey which aims to generate statistics on wage and salary administration and wage determination in collective bargaining negotiations. Specifically, it aims to:

  1. measure the wage differential across occupation and industries in the country; and
  2. determine inequalities in typically low occupations and high wage occupations among workers.

The survey will cover about 16,000 establishments nationwide utilizing a total budget amounting to PhP 43.4 million. Questionnaires will be distributed to sample establishments from 15 September to 31 December 2022 and results are expected to be released in September 2023.

The detailed result of the 2020 OWS can be accessed at https://psa.gov.ph/content/2020-occupational-wages-survey-ows-0.

The 2022 OWS was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 10625 to:

  1. ensure sound design for data collection;
  2. minimize the burden placed upon respondents;
  3. effect economy in statistical data collection;
  4. eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and
  5. achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.

In line with this, the PSA enjoins establishments to participate in the said survey by providing the information needed. Authorized PSA statistical researchers will visit the sample establishments to distribute and collect questionnaires.

For further information on SSRCS, please contact the Statistical Standards Division of the Standards Service with telephone numbers (02) 8376-1928 and (02) 8376-1931, and email address: ssd.staff@psa.gov.ph or ssdss.staff@gmail.com.
