The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) clears the conduct of the 2023 Labor Force Survey (LFS).
The LFS is undertaken by PSA to provide statistics on levels and trends of employment, unemployment, and underemployment in the country, as well as to provide a quantitative framework for the preparation of plans and formulation of policies affecting the labor market.
The major data items to be collected in this survey include:
- employment;
- unemployment;
- underemployment; and
- labor force participation.
A total budget of PhP 127.77 million will be utilized for 12 survey rounds of LFS covering travelling expenses, supplies, printing, and other expenses related to the survey. The survey will cover around 44,000 households for the months of January, April, July, and October 2023 and around 11,000 households for February, March, May, June, August, September, November, and December 2023 nationwide. Preliminary results of the survey are to be released 35 days after data collection.
Results of the November 2022 LFS can be accessed at https://psa.gov.ph/statistics/survey/labor-and-employment/labor-force-su....
The survey was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 to:
- ensure sound design for data collection;
- minimize the burden placed upon respondents;
- effect economy in statistical data collection;
- eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and
- achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.
In line with this, the PSA enjoins all sample households to support and participate in said survey by providing the information needed. Authorized PSA interviewers will visit the sample households to conduct personal interview.
