The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) grants clearance for the conduct of the 2024 Crops Production Survey (CrPS).
The 2024 CrPS is a quarterly survey which aims to generate estimates on the volume of production, area planted/harvested, number of bearing trees/hills/vines, and farmgate prices for crops other than palay and corn at the national, regional, and provincial levels.
The data collected from this survey serves as a valuable input to the calculation of the Value of Production in Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries and in the computation of the country’s Gross Domestic Product.
The 2024 CrPS covers various types of crops sub-classified under three commodity groupings, namely: 1) Non-Food and Industrial Crops, 2) Fruit Crops, and 3) Vegetables and Root Crops. The commodity coverage by province differs and depends on what each province produces.
The major data items to be collected are the following:
a. Volume of crop production
b. Area planted/harvested
c. Total number of bearing trees/hills/vines
d. Reason for higher/lower crop production
e. Information on standing crop
f. Farmgate prices
g. Reason for higher/lower farmgate price
A total budget of PhP 55.0 million will be utilized to interview 57,930 households and 744 establishments in all provinces, excluding the National Capital Region (NCR). The timeline for data collection and the subsequent release of the CrPS results is as follows:
Survey Round | Data Collection Period | Release of Survey Results |
1st Quarter 2024 | 14-27 March 2024 | 30 May 2024 |
2nd Quarter 2024 | 17-28 June 2024 | 29 August 2024 |
3rd Quarter 2024 | 17-30 September 2024 | 29 November 2024 |
4th Quarter 2024 | 18-29 November 2024 | February 2025 |
Meanwhile, latest results of the 2023 CrPS can be accessed at https://psa.gov.ph/content/major-fruit-crops-quarterly-bulletin-april-june-2023-0.
This survey was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 to:
a. Ensure sound design for data collection
b. Minimize the burden placed upon respondents
c. Effect economy in statistical data collection
d. Eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts
e. Achieve better coordination of government statistical activities
In line with this, the PSA enjoins sampled households and establishments to participate in the 2024 CrPS by providing truthful information. An authorized PSA interviewer will visit the households and establishments to conduct a personal interview.
