The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) granted clearance for the conduct of the household survey on Awareness of Households on the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) and Philippine Competition Act (PCA). On behalf of the PCC, the survey will be conducted by the PSA as a rider to the July 2022 round of the Labor Force Survey (LFS).

The survey aims to determine the awareness of households on the PCC, its mandate and the PCA. Results of the survey will guide the PCC in designing evidence-based and well-targeted advocacy strategies and help educate the public on the relevance of market competition.

The major data items to be collected in the survey are as follows:

1. awareness on the PCC and its responsibilities;
2. awareness on the PCA;
3. preferred source of information of local news; and
4. prohibited actions under the PCA.

The survey will interview approximately 45,000 households nationwide from 08 to 30 July 2022 with a total budget of PhP 3.6 million.

This survey was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act No. 10625 to:

1. ensure sound design for data collection;
2. minimize the burden placed upon respondents;
3. effect economy in statistical data collection;
4. eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and
5. achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.

In line with this, the PSA enjoins all the sampled households nationwide to support and participate in the survey by providing the required information. Authorized PSA interviewers will visit the sample households to conduct personal interview.
