The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) granted clearance for the conduct of the Rural Agro-Industrial Partnership for Inclusive Development Growth (RAPID Growth) Project: Baseline Survey by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region XI. The survey will be conducted by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) on behalf of DTI Region XI.

The RAPID Growth Project: Baseline Survey aims to contribute to the reduction of incidence of poverty in the target areas through sustainable increase in income of smallholder farmers and unemployed rural men and women across the selected value chains. Further, the results of the study will be used to establish the comparison or reference values/data for the project’s key indicators, as well as to assess project performance on Project Evaluation Activities (i.e., Annual Outcome Survey, and End of Project Surveys for the Project Completion Review).

The major data items to be collected from this undertaking include the following:

  1. household income;
  2. sources of income; and
  3. farm and value chain assets.

The activity will interview a total of 3,300 households of selected farmer organizations’ members from 21 selected provinces in Regions VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, BARMM, and Caraga. A total budget of PhP 6.6 million will be utilized in the survey which will be conducted in August to October 2022. The survey results are expected to be released in December 2022.

This undertaking was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 to:

  1. ensure sound design for data collection;
  2. minimize the burden placed upon respondents;
  3. effect economy in statistical data collection;
  4. eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and
  5. achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.

In line with this, the PSA enjoins the households of selected members of farmer organizations from selected provinces in Regions VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, BARMM, and Caraga to support and participate in the conduct of the RAPID Growth Project: Baseline Survey by providing the required information.
