The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Memorandum Circular No.2020-20 enjoins all government agencies, local government units, academic institutions, state universities and colleges, and private sector at the national and subnational levels to actively participate in and support the celebration of the month-long 31st National Statistics Month (NSM), and 3rd World Statistics Day (WSD) on 20 October 2020. 

The Memorandum Circular, signed by Acting Socioeconomic Planning Secretary and Chairperson of the PSA Board, Karl Kendrick T. Chua, calls for the support of everyone in the conduct of nationwide 31st NSM activities, and celebration of the 3rd WSD.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, "Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month,” the NSM aims to: (a) promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society; and (b) elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country. The 31st NSM adopts the theme “Bridging Digital Gaps: Making Information Available to All.”

Meanwhile, the 1stWSD was celebrated on 20 October 2010, based on the Resolution adopted by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on 03 June 2010. Following the success of the 1st WSD, the UN General Assembly decided to celebrate the 2nd WSD on 20 October 2015 and succeeding celebrations every five years on 20 October. The 3rd WSD carries the slogan “Connecting the world with data we can trust.”
