The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) cleared the conduct of the Corporate Financial Trends Survey (CFTS) of the Financial Stability Coordination Council (FSCC) on 16 November 2017. The FSCC consists of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Department of Finance (DOF), Insurance Commission (IC), Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC), and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

 

The survey aims to establish a database for industries which is essential to the formulation of sound, responsive and well-informed monetary, financial and economic policies. The survey also aims to collect information on the sources and uses of funds (financial position), trends in liabilities, as well as trends in revenue of establishments/enterprises.

 

The tables and other outputs that will be generated from the survey include the following:

• debt-to-equity ratio

• return on asset and equity

• current ratio

• interest coverage ratio

• sources and uses of funds

• debt structure

 

The sample establishments/enterprises will be selected from the list of Top 1,000 Corporations released by the Business World. The BSP will utilize a total of Php 351,000.00 to support the conduct of this survey. Results of the survey are scheduled to be released in December 2017.

 

The survey was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 to:

• ensure sound design for data collection;

• minimize the burden placed upon respondents; 

• effect economy in statistical data collection; 

• eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and 

• achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.

 

In line with this, the PSA enjoins establishments/enterprises to support the said survey.
