The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) granted clearance for the conduct of the Ex-Post Evaluation of the Angat Water Utilization and Aqueduct Improvement Project (AWUAIP) Phase II by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) in collaboration with Test Consultants, Inc. (TCI).

The AWUAIP II is one of the projects in the Water Security Legacy Plan formulated by the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewage System (MWSS). The project aims to provide additional and sustainable source of water for Metro Manila and its adjacent provinces. In order to determine the impact and effectiveness of the project, the Ex-Post Evaluation of the AWUIP II will be conducted to validate from the new water service customers, if they experienced an increase in supply of water after the aqueduct improvement.

Particularly, the survey aims to determine the following:

a. For Relocatees

1. Amount of compensation given
2. Improvement of status of living upon relocation/transfer
3. Additional expenses after relocation/transfer
4. Confirmation of relocation/transfer
5. Manner of relocation/transfer (peaceful/resistant)

b. For Customers of the Concessionaires

1. Changes in water service
2. Time of residency (before/during/after project completion)
3. Improvement in quality of service (availability, reliability, accessibility)

A total budget of Php 374,000 will be utilized in the survey. Starting the end of June 2021, around 1,392 households in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and CALABARZON affected by the AWUAIP II Project will be interviewed.

This undertaking was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 to:

a. ensure sound design for data collection;
b. minimize the burden placed upon respondents;
c. effect economy in statistical data collection;
d. eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and
e. achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.

In line with this, the PSA enjoins the households in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and CALABARZON affected by the project to support the Ex-post Evaluation of the AWUAIP II.
