The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) launched its Data Enclave Centers (DECs) in 14 Regional Statistical Services Offices (RSSOs) on 14 July 2023. These DECs are in addition to the one located in the PSA Central Office and three regional offices in the National Capital Region, Region V-Bicol Region, and Region XII-SOCCSKSARGEN which were launched on 19 December 2022.

The establishment of the DECs in the Central Office and 17 regional offices is one of the PSA’s strategies in intensifying its dissemination and usage of statistics and in building a more collaborative environment with its partners.

The DECs allow researchers and stakeholders across all regions to access PSA data from establishment-based censuses and surveys under strict conditions and only for research and training purposes, in compliance to the PSA Office Memorandum No. 2019-1241. Furthermore, these facilities promote an environment that encourages research, collaboration, and innovation.

PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, in his message, mentioned how PSA is taking initiatives in responding to the demand for widespread digitalization and emerging technologies. “By empowering our regional offices through IT driven solution, our Data Enclave shows our steadfast initiative to provide access even to sensitive data to our researchers and stakeholders for statistical purposes,” he said.

The simultaneous ribbon cutting and the live demonstration on how to access the DECs highlighted the launching where researchers from the academe and stakeholders from various government agencies in all 14 regions participated.
