The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will release the Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) for the benchmark year 2018 and years 2019 to 2021 for 46 provinces and 13 highly urbanized cities (HUCs) in nine pilot regions. Through the Macroeconomic Accounts Service under the Sectoral Statistics Office, and in cooperation with the different Regional Statistical Services Offices and Provincial Statistical Offices, series of dissemination fora will be conducted from 28 November to 19 December 2022.

Last December 2021, the PSA achieved a milestone in economic accounts statistics with the release of the 2018 to 2020 PPA results, covering all the provinces and HUCs of the three pilot regions, namely, MIMAROPA, Central Visayas, and Northern Mindanao.

This year, in addition to the updates on PPA for the three pilot regions, the provinces and HUCs of six other regions will also release their PPA for the first time. Covering the period 2018 to 2021, PSA will release in December 2022 the PPA results of Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Davao Region, and SOCCSKSARGEN.

The PPA initiative enables the compilation of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the provinces and HUCs. Consistent with the GDP at the national and regional level, the PPA has long been demanded by the planners and policy makers to provide a suitable measure of economic performance at the subregional level, and as a source of indicators to monitor the economic development or progress at the local level. This will provide our stakeholders in the government and private institutions as well as those in the academe with sound indicators for evidence-based policies at the local level. The PPA was compiled consistently with the framework of the System of National Accounts. By 2025, the PSA envisions institutionalizing the PPA in all provinces of the 17 regions, including the HUCs.

The PSA is grateful to its partners and data providers for their full support and cooperation in sustaining data requirements for a more timely, accurate, and relevant economic accounts at the provincial level.

Detailed results of the PPA will be released by the respective provincial statistical offices of the PSA:
