Year-on-Year
The year-on-year increase in the retail price index of selected construction materials in the National Capital Region (NCR) eased to 4.0 percent in September from 5.0 percent in August. Slower annual gains were posted in four commodity groups. On the other hand, the same previous month’s rate of 7.9 percent was observed in the index of electrical materials while an annual decline of -3.7 percent was seen in tinsmithry materials index.
Month-on-Month
On a monthly basis, the retail price increments of selected construction materials in NCR went down by -0.3 percent in September from zero growth in August. It resulted from the negative rate in masonry materials index at -0.9 percent from 0.3 percent; tinsmithry materials index, -0.2 percent from 0.2 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials index, -2.0 percent from -0.5 percent. The same rate of 0.1 percent was posted in carpentry materials index. Meanwhile, the rest of the commodity groups had zero percent.
Price reductions were noted in cement, gravel, sand, corrugated GI sheet, and round steel bars.
