Annual rate of CMRPI in NCR increased in April 2024

The annual rate of CMRPI in NCR moved up to 1.2 percent in April 2024 from 0.6 percent in March 2024. In April 2023, its year-on-year growth rate was recorded at 2.6 percent. (Figure 1, and Tables A, 2, and 4)

The primary contributor to the uptrend of CMRPI in NCR was the annual increase observed in the index of miscellaneous construction materials at 0.8 percent during the month from 1.5 percent annual drop in March 2024. This was followed by plumbing materials index, which also exhibited 0.3 percent annual hike in April 2024 from 0.2 percent annual decline in the previous month.   

Relative to their March 2024 annual rates, higher annual increases were noted in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:   

a. Carpentry materials, 0.3 percent from 0.2 percent;   
b. Painting materials and related compounds, 2.2 percent from 2.0 percent; and   
c. Tinsmithry materials, 2.6 percent from 2.4 percent.

On the contrary, faster annual decline was recorded in the index of masonry materials at 0.3 percent during the month from 0.2 percent annual decrease in March 2024.   

Meanwhile, the index of electrical materials retained its previous month’s annual growth rate of 0.9 percent. (Table 2)
