Annual increment of CMRPI in NCR decelerates further in April 2019
The annual mark-up of Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) eased further to 1.7 percent in April 2019. In March 2019, the growth rate was recorded at 1.9 percent and in April 2018, 2.6 percent. Slower annual increases during the month were recorded in the indices of carpentry materials at 1.8 percent; electrical materials, 1.3 percent; masonry materials, 4.0 percent; plumbing materials, 0.6 percent; and tinsmithry materials, 1.4 percent. On the other hand, a higher annual gain of 2.0 percent was observed in miscellaneous construction materials index, while the index of painting materials and related compounds retained its previous month’s annual rate at 1.0 percent (see Table 2).

Retail prices of selected construction materials are generally stable in April 2019
The CMRPI in NCR slightly increased in April 2019 by 0.04 percent. In March 2019, it was lower at 0.03 percent. The indices of carpentry materials picked up by 0.2 percent; miscellaneous construction materials, 0.1 percent; and plumbing materials, 0.2 percent. On the contrary, the increment in the index of painting materials and related compounds slowed down to 0.1 percent. The indices of masonry materials and tinsmithry materials dropped by 0.3 percent and 0.02 percent, respectively. The electrical materials index still registered zero growth during the period (see Table 3).
Higher prices in lumber and fabricated products such as common wire nails and paints were noted in April 2019. Prices of G.I. pipes and steel bars also went up during the month. Meanwhile, lower prices were observed in corrugated G.I. sheet, gravel and sand.
