The monthly change of the retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR went up at a slower pace of 0.1 percent in August from 0.2 percent in July as an increase in painting materials and related compounds index eased to 0.1 percent from 0.6 percent. Moreover, declines were noticed in the indexes of electrical materials and miscellaneous construction materials at -0.1 percent from their respective last monthÒ³ rates of 0.2 percent and 0.1 percent and plumbing materials, -0.4 percent from -0.1 percent. On the other hand, higher monthly rates were seen in carpentry materials and masonry materials indexes at 0.3 percent from 0.2 percent and -0.3 percent, respectively while that for tinsmithry materials had a zero growth from 0.2 percent.
Price reductions were observed in selected wiring devices, cement, GI pipes and steel bars. Price hikes were however noted in tanguile, hinges, gravel, sand and selected paint products.

The annual growth rate of the retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR decelerated to 4.4 percent in August from 4.5 percent in July. Annual increment in electrical materials index decelerated to 4.8 percent in August from 4.9 percent in July; painting materials and related compounds, 5.2 percent from 5.6 percent; and plumbing materials, 4.5 percent from 4.9 percent. Meanwhile, the indexes of carpentry materials and miscellaneous construction materials have higher annual rates while the masonry materials index continued to post negative annual rate during the month.
