Annual increase of CMRPI in NCR slows down in February 2019
The annual increment of Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) decelerated to 2.4 percent in February 2019. Its annual change in January 2019 was higher at 2.5 percent, while it was lower in February 2018 at 2.1 percent. Slower annual hikes were registered in the indices of carpentry materials at 3.6 percent; masonry materials, 5.2 percent; tinsmithry materials, 1.5 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 2.0 percent. On the other hand, annual mark ups in the indices of electrical materials were higher by 1.6 percent; painting materials and related compounds, 1.2 percent; and plumbing materials index, 1.1 percent (see Table 2).

CMRPI in NCR generally remains stable in February 2019
The CMRPI in NCR, on the average, posted a zero growth in February 2019. In the previous month, it went up by 0.20 percent. The indices of electrical materials inched up at a slower rate of 0.07 percent; painting materials and related compounds, 0.29 percent; plumbing materials, 0.03 percent; and tinsmithry materials, 0.05 percent. Meanwhile, the indices of carpentry materials decreased by 0.03 percent, miscellaneous construction materials, 0.01 percent; and masonry materials, 0.50 percent (see Table 3).
Prices of PVC pipes, electrical switch and corrugated G.I. sheets went up during the period. On the contrary, lower prices were registered in lumber, common wire nails, sand, gravel and plain round steel bars.
