Annual increase of Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) at the National Capital Region (NCR) slows down in November 2018

The annual rate of CMRPI in NCR decelerated to 2.2 percent in November 2018. Its annual change in October 2018 was posted at 2.3 percent and in November 2017, 1.7 percent. Slower annual gains were registered in the indices of electrical materials at 1.0 percent; masonry materials, 3.7 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 2.7 percent.

On the other hand, annual increments in the indices of carpentry materials accelerated to 3.6 percent; plumbing materials, 1.3 percent; and tinsmithry materials, 3.8 percent. For three consecutive months now, annual movement of painting materials and related compounds index remained at 0.7 percent (see Table 2).

CMRPI at NCR exhibits a higher monthly rate in November 2018

The CMRPI in NCR went up by 0.4 percent in November 2018. The indices of carpentry materials moved up at a faster pace of 0.4 percent; tinsmithry materials, 2.1 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 0.5 percent. A minimal increase of 0.04 percent was noted in electrical materials index. Meanwhile, the increment in masonry materials index was slower at 0.2 percent. Moreover, painting materials and related compound index declined by 0.1 percent during the month while plumbing materials index retained its previous month’s growth of 0.1 percent (see Table 3).

Prices of plywood and veneer, lockset, PVC pipe, steel bars and hollow blocks went up during the month. On the contrary, lower prices were observed in paints and sand paper.
