Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT) and Non-FBT Items

  1. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

    The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT in NCR and AONCR correspondingly increased to 158.7 and 161.7 in February from their respective January levels of 157.5 and 161.2.

    The start of the observance of the Lenten season raised prices of fish in NCR relative to the expected trend.

    Compared with last month, prices of the seasonally adjusted FBT items in NCR picked up to 0.8 percent from 0.6 percent. Meanwhile, prices of seasonally adjusted FBT items in AONCR slowed down by 0.4 percentage point to 0.3 percent in February from 0.7 percent in January.

  2. CPI of Non-FBT items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR moved at its January level of 196.7. However, in AONCR, its level went up to 191.0 in February from 190.3 in January.

The month-on-month inflation of the seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in NCR posted a zero growth in February from 0.1 percent in January. On the other hand, the seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in AONCR slightly grew by 0.2 percentage point to 0.4 percent from 0.2 percent.
