The same previous month’s rate of 0.5 percent was recorded in the index of alcoholic beverages and tobacco; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels index (0.6%); and health index (0.2%).

The lean month of July pushed up the indices for all the commodity groups in the country relative to the expected trend: alcoholic beverages and tobacco; clothing and footwear; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house; health; recreation and culture; education; and restaurant and miscellaneous goods and services.

  • Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)
  • In AONCR, slower monthly upticks were observed in clothing and footwear index at 0.3 percent in July from 0.4 percent in June; education index, 0.2 percent from 0.9 percent; and restaurant and miscellaneous goods and services index, 0.4 percent from 0.5 percent. However, the seasonally adjusted CPI for alcoholic beverages and tobacco index increased to 0.4 percent from 0.3 percent; health index; 0.3 percent from 0.2 percent; and recreation and culture index, 0.1 percent from zero growth. The rate of adjustment of the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels index was still at 0.5 percent and that for furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house index, 0.4 percent.

The lean season pulled up the indices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco; clothing and footwear; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house; health; recreation and culture; education; and restaurants and miscellaneous goods and services in the area.
