The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will hold the joint opening ceremony of the 30th National Statistics Month (NSM) and the 14th National Convention on Statistics (NCS) on 01 October 2019 at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria located at Ortigas Ave. cor. Asian Development Bank Ave., Quezon City. The theme for this year is “Data Innovation: Key to a Better Nation.”

Gracing the event are Vice President Maria Leonor G. Robredo to deliver the keynote address and Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto M. Pernia of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) for the inspirational message.  Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa of the PSA will officially open the celebration of the 30th NSM with welcome remarks for the participants of the 14th NCS.

One of the highlights of the programme is the Ribbon Cutting of the Statistical Information Management Exhibit (SIMEx) where exhibitors are to feature and promote their latest software, hardware, and other products on statistical information management and dissemination.

During the opening ceremony, the PSA will launch the official NSM Jingle and will showcase the following audio-visual presentations: NSM in 30 years, the 2020 Census of Population and Housing, and the Philippine Identification System. Further, the winners of the 9th NSM Media Awards will be announced in recognition of their significant role and contribution in promoting and popularizing official statistics of the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) through news and features.

The 14th NCS will feature plenary sessions, 62 scientific sessions (covering 202 invited/ contributed papers), panel discussions, and statistics trainings. Statisticians and statistical practitioners from both the government and private sector, academicians, students, media, and development partners are invited to attend the 14th NCS from 01 to 03 October 2019.

The panel discussion on the PSS Five-Year Accomplishments under RA 10625 will be featured during the 14th NCS Closing Ceremony on 03 October 2019. Senator Sherwin T. Gatchalian will also serve as resource speaker in a plenary session. Assistant Secretary Daniel A. Ariaso of the PSA will formally close the Convention.

Meanwhile, the general public is invited to participate in the nationwide celebration of the 30th NSM in October 2019.
