Farmgate price of palay continues to increase in February 2022

At the national level, the average farmgate price of palay per kilogram went up to PhP 17.72 per kilogram or by 3.3 percent this month, from its price level of PhP 17.15 per kilogram in the previous month. Similarly, it registered an annual hike of 5.4 percent, relative to its price level of PhP 16.81 per kilogram in February 2021. (Table A)

The average farmgate prices of palay in six regions recorded higher annual increases this month. In addition, after exhibiting a negative annual rate in the previous month, MIMAROPA Region and Northern Mindanao posted positive annual growth during the period. (Table 1)

BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) registered the highest annual increment of 39.1 percent this month, while Caraga had the lowest with a decline of -6.6 percent. (Table 1)
