The 20th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) introduces more innovations as it adopts the use of iPAQ and provision of live internet feed and stream of the National Finals which will be held on December 6, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in Manila.

The 17 national finalists, who represent each of the 17 regions of the country, will be using iPAQ in answering questions on statistical concepts, theories and problems. A dry run and a briefing on the use of the handhelds were done prior to the contest.

Meanwhile, the organizers announced that a live stream of the National Finals will be made available at http://www.justin.tv/psq2011 while an internet feed can be viewed at http://www.census.gov.ph/data/specialevents/psq2011/psqliveupdate/psqindex.html.

The PSQ, which was organized in 1992 by the Philippine Statistical Association and the National Statistics Office, aims to promote, enhance, and instill appreciation on the value of the statistics among Filipino youth. It also seeks to generate greater public awareness on the importance of statistics in development planning and gain better cooperation in government statistical activities.

At stake for the top five placers in the PSQ National Finals are cash prizes, trophies, certificates of recognition and several gift items from various sponsors and donors. Their respective coaches, the college or university where they are currently enrolled, as well as the high school where they graduated from, will likewise be given certificates of recognition.
