Release Date :

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Board approved on 09 November 2021 the PSA Board Resolution No. 19, series of 2021 which is the modification in the System of Designated Statistics (SDS) involving  the earlier release of vital statistics generated from the Civil Registration System, from two years after the reference year to 11 months after the reference year for marriage statistics, 12 months after the reference year for birth statistics, and 13 months after the reference year for death statistics.

Vital statistics are generated by the PSA based on birth, marriage, and death certificates submitted by Local Civil Registrar Offices all over the country, and the Interagency Committee on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (IACCRVS) endorsed the modification to the PSA Board as this means improving the timeliness of vital statistics disseminated by the PSA.

The SDS was established in 1996 by virtue of Executive Order No. 352 otherwise known as “Designation of Statistical Activities that will Generate Critical Data for Decision-Making of the Government and the Private Sector” to identify and designate the most critical and essential statistics required for social and economic planning/analysis. The SDS identifies the title of the designated statistical activity or statistics, implementing agency, frequency of conduct, geographic disaggregation, and schedule of data dissemination. It is a dynamic system that allows for modifications to respond to changing needs and priorities, and to consider improving capabilities of agencies in the Philippine Statistical System.

The SDS can be accessed at http://www.psa.gov.ph/philippine-statistical-system/sds.
