  • Month-on-Month

    The Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) registered an increment of 0.3 percent in October, same rate posted in September. Increases were observed in the prices of cement, 2.4 percent in October from 0.2 percent in September; interior electrical fixtures and devices, 0.6 percent from 0.2 percent; and electrical rough-in materials, 1.7 percent from 0.3 percent. Moreover, prices of the following commodity groups went up during the month from zero growth: PVC pipes, 2.9 percent; reinforcing steel, 0.2 percent; and exterior electrical equipment/supplies, 2.0 percent. On the other hand, price add-ons were slower in plywood, fuels and lubricants, hardware, plumbing fixtures, and paints. Concrete products retained its last month's rate of 0.1 percent while prices of the rest of the commodity groups generally remained stable as they recorded zero growth this month.

  • Year-on-Year

    The annual inflation rate based on the CMWPI in NCR was higher by 0.2 percentage point to 16.2 percent in October from 16.0 percent in September. Higher annual growth rates were seen in the prices of twelve (12) commodity groups. Price hikes were however noted at slower rates in sand, stone and gravel, asphalt and G.I sheets while inflation rates of blasting materials, machinery and equipment rental and UPVC water pipes were zero. The rest of the commodity groups moved at their last month's positive rates.
