The Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) recorded a zero growth in October from 0.1 percent in September as prices of the fourteen (14) commodity groups remained stable during the month. Increases in the prices of cement and electrical rough-in materials correspondingly slowed to 0.1 percent and 0.8 percent in October from their respective September rates of 0.6 percent and 1.1 percent. Moreover, price reductions were noted in plywood at -0.3 percent from 0.4 percent; wood products, -0.1 percent from zero growth; and fuels and lubricants, -4.4 percent from -4.3 percent. On the other hand, the following commodity groups registered higher prices: lumber, 0.2 percent from 0.1 percent; concrete products, 0.4 percent from 0.2 percent; G.I. sheets, 0.5 percent from 0.2 percent; interior electrical fixtures and devices, 0.8 percent from -0.6 percent; and PVC pipes and UPVC water pipes 0.5 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively from zero growth.
 

Year-on-Year

The annual inflation rate of the CMWPI in NCR eased to 4.5 percent in October from 5.7 percent in September. Annual price adjustment of structural steel was still at -2.4 percent in October from -3.4 percent in September. Moreover, slower annual price additions were posted in cement at 10.6 percent from 11.2 percent; lumber, 6.2 percent from 6.4 percent; plywood, 1.4 percent from 1.6 percent; wood products, fuels and lubricants, 6.2 percent from 15.1 percent; hardware, 4.6 percent from 5.7 percent; paints, 4.4 percent from 5.3 percent; reinforcing steel, 2.1 percent from 7.2 percent; and exterior electrical equipment/supplies, 16.9 percent from 18.9 percent. Meanwhile, annual add-ons in the prices of PVC pipes, G.I. sheets, interior electrical fixtures and devices, electrical rough-in materials and UPVC pipes were higher while the annual rates seen in the prices of blasting materials and machinery and equipment rental were zero. The rest of the commodity groups retained their previous month�s rates.
