Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index in the National Capital Region (1985=100) : November 2006

    The Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) slightly grew to 0.3 percent in November from 0.2 percent in October. This can be attributed to the increments in the prices of wood products at 0.7 percent from -0.1 percent; hardware, 0.2 percent from 0.1 percent; and G.I. sheets, 1.2 percent from 0.5 percent. Moreover, prices of the following commodity groups went up during the month from zero growth: reinforcing steel and structural steel, 0.7 percent; aluminum and other metal products, 5.8 percent; exterior electrical equipment/supplies, 3.6 percent; and tileworks, 0.5 percent. Price add-on was however slower in UPVC water pipes at 0.1 percent from 1.3 percent. Price decreases were also noted in fuels and lubricants at -2.0 percent from -4.4 percent; interior electrical fixtures and devises; and electrical rough-in materials, -0.3 percent and -0.5 percent, respectively from 1.0 percent. Prices for the rest of the commodity groups remained stable as they registered zero growth during the month.
     

  • Year-on-Year

    The annual inflation rate of the CMWPI in NCR slowed down to 4.9 percent in November from 5.0 percent in October as lower annual rates were observed in the prices of most of the commodity groups. Annual price gains were however, higher in six groups. The rest of the commodity groups either retained their previous month�s rates or posted zero growth.
