CMWPI in NCR moves upward during the month
The year-on-year change of CMWPI in NCR picked up by 1.8 percent in July 2020. Its annual rate in June 2020 was recorded at 1.2 percent and in July 2019, 3.0 percent. (Tables A and 2)
Compared with their annual rates in June 2020, annual increases were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups:
a. Concrete products and cement; and hardware, both at 3.6 percent;
b. Lumber, 4.4 percent;
c. Tileworks, 16.8 percent; and
d. Electrical works, 1.9 percent.
Moreover, the annual decline in the index of fuels and lubricants group during the month at 7.2 percent was lower relative to its double-digit annual decrease of 10.5 percent in the previous month.
On the other hand, annual increments were slower in the indices of sand and gravel; and G.I. sheet which both registered at 1.1 percent; painting works, 0.5 percent; and PVC pipes, 3.6 percent.
Meanwhile, the annual rate in the index of plywood fell further by 0.7 percent and an annual drop of 0.4 percent was recorded in both the indices of reinforcing and structural steel; and plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks.
The indices of the rest of the commodity groups maintained their previous month’s annual growth rates. (Table 2)
