CMWPI in NCR increased further this month

The CMWPI in NCR went up at an annual rate of 2.3 percent in July 2021, from 2.2 percent in June 2021. Its annual growth rate in July 2020 was registered at 1.8 percent. (Tables A and 2)

Higher annual increments were noted in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:

a. Hardware, 2.2 percent;
b. Plywood; and doors, jambs, and steel casement, both at 1.9 percent;
c. G.I. sheet, 2.3 percent;
d. Reinforcing and structural steel, 3.6 percent;
e. Tileworks, 2.8 percent;
f. Electrical works, 4.1 percent;
g. Painting works, 1.7 percent; and
h. PVC pipes, 3.5 percent.

In addition, the annual drop in the index of plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks at -0.9 percent was lower during the month relative to its annual decline of -1.0 percent in the previous month.

Meanwhile, annual hikes decelerated in the indices of the following commodity groups:

a. Sand and gravel, 3.6 percent;
b. Concrete products and cement, 0.6 percent;
c. Lumber, 2.0 percent; and
d. Fuels and lubricants, 18.0 percent.

Other commodity groups either moved at its previous month’s annual growth rate or maintained their zero percent annual growth during the month. (Table 2)
