CMWPI in NCR picked up further during the month
The CMWPI in NCR continued its upward trend as its annual rate went up further to 4.6 percent in September 2021, from 4.3 percent in August 2021. Its annual change in September 2020 was registered at 0.5 percent. (Tables A and 2)
The double-digit annual increase of 22.3 percent in the index of fuels and lubricants was higher compared with its annual growth rate of 17.4 percent in the previous month.
Annual increments were also higher in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:
a. Concrete products and cement, 0.9 percent;
b. Plywood, 2.3 percent;
c. G.I. sheet, 14.2 percent;
d. Reinforcing and structural steel, 8.0 percent; and
e. PVC pipes, 3.7 percent.
Meanwhile, annual hikes slowed down in the indices of the following commodity groups:
a. Sand and gravel, 3.1 percent;
b. Hardware and painting works, both at 1.7 percent;
c. Doors, jambs, and steel casement, 2.0 percent; and
d. Electrical works, 5.4 percent.
The rest of the commodity groups either retained their previous month’s annual growth rates or still recorded zero percent annual growth during the month. (Table 2)
