CMWPI in NCR continued its upward trend in October 2021

The CMWPI in NCR rose further at an annual rate of 4.7 percent in October 2021. Its annual growth in September 2021 was posted at 4.6 percent, and in October 2020 at 0.8 percent. (Tables A and 2)

The index of fuels and lubricants continued to move faster at an annual rate of 33.3 percent in October 2021, from 22.3 percent in September 2021. Annual increments were also higher in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:

a. Concrete products and cement, 1.2 percent;
b. Hardware, 2.8 percent;
c. Lumber, and painting works, both at 3.1 percent;
d. Reinforcing and structural steel, 8.4 percent;
e. Doors, jambs, and steel casement, 2.3 percent;
f. Electrical works, 6.9 percent; and
g. PVC pipes, 3.8 percent.

Similarly, the index of plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks registered an annual increase of 1.1 percent during the month after it exhibited an annual decline of -0.9 percent in the previous month.

On the other hand, annual hikes slowed down in the indices of sand and gravel at 2.7 percent; plywood, 2.1 percent; and G.I. sheet, 11.5 percent. Moreover, the index of tileworks recorded an annual decrease of -0.1 percent in October 2021, from an annual growth rate of 2.8 percent in September 2021.

The index of glass and glass products was still at its previous month’s annual growth rate of 14.4 percent, while the indices of asphalt, and machinery and equipment rental retained their zero percent annual growth during the month. (Table 2)
