CMWPI in NCR went up in January 2022

The annual growth rate of CMWPI in NCR increased to 5.3 percent in January 2022, from 5.2 percent in December 2021. Its annual change in January 2021 was recorded at 1.2 percent. (Tables A and 2)

Compared with their annual rates in December 2021, annual increases were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:

a. Sand and gravel, 2.1 percent;
b. Concrete products and cement; and hardware, both at 3.5 percent;
c. Plywood, 3.1 percent;
d. G.I. sheet, 13.0 percent;
e. Doors, jambs, and steel casement, 2.9 percent;
f. Electrical works, 8.5 percent;
g. Plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, 5.4 percent; and
h. Painting works; and PVC pipes, both at 4.2 percent.

On the other hand, the annual decline in the index of tileworks at -0.7 percent was lower compared with its annual drop of -1.8 percent in the previous month.

Moreover, annual increments slowed down in the indices of lumber at 2.5 percent; and reinforcing and structural steel at 7.0 percent.

The indices of the rest of the commodity groups either retained their previous month’s positive annual growth rates or had zero percent annual growths during the month. (Table 2)
