CMWPI in NCR accelerated in March 2022
The year-on-year change of CMWPI in NCR picked up to 6.6 percent in March 2022, from 5.2 percent in February 2022. This was also higher than its annual growth rate recorded in March 2021 at 2.2 percent. (Tables A and 2)
Annual increases were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups in March 2022:
a. Sand and gravel, 2.5 percent;
b. Concrete products and cement, 4.8 percent;
c. Hardware, 3.5 percent;
d. Plywood, 4.5 percent;
e. Lumber, 3.1 percent;
f. G.I. sheet, 13.5 percent;
g. Reinforcing and structural steel, 10.5 percent;
h. Electrical works, 10.0 percent;
i. Plumbing fixtures and acessories/waterworks, 7.4 percent; and
j. Fuels and lubricants, 36.3 percent.
On the other hand, the annual decline in the index of tileworks at -0.4 percent was lower compared with its annual drop of -1.5 percent in the previous month.
Moreover, annual upticks were slower in the index of doors, jambs, and steel casement at 1.4 percent.
The indices of the rest of the commodity groups, either retained their previous month’s positive annual growth rates or had zero percent annual growth during the month. (Table 2)
