CMWPI in NCR picked up further in June 2022

The annual rate of CMWPI in NCR moved up to 8.9 percent in June 2022, the highest since October 2008. Annual growth in May 2022 was recorded at 8.3 percent and in June 2021, 2.2 percent. (Tables A and 2)

The faster annual increase of CMWPI in June 2022 was primarily the effect of the higher increment in reinforcing and structural steel at 16.5 percent. In addition, higher annual upticks were recorded in the following commodity groups:

a. Sand and gravel, 4.7 percent;
b. Concrete products and cement, 5.2 percent;
c. Hardware, 5.7 percent;
d. Plywood, 5.1 percent;
e. G.I. sheet, 14.6 percent;
f. Tileworks, 0.7 percent;
g. Doors, jambs, and steel casement, 2.2 percent;
h. Electrical works, 8.7 percent;
i. Plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, 7.6 percent;
j. Painting works, 6.2 percent;
k. PVC pipes, 11.2 percent; and
l. Fuels and lubricants, 48.4 percent

The rest of the commodity groups either retained their previous month’s annual growth rates or had zero percent annual growth during the month. (Table 2)
