CMWPI in NCR picked up at a slower rate in July 2023

The annual increase of CMWPI in NCR slowed down further to 5.7 percent in July 2023 from the 5.9 percent annual rate posted in June 2023. This is the ninth consecutive month of lower year-on-year growth of CMWPI since November 2022. In July 2022, its annual growth rate was recorded at 8.7 percent. (Figure 1, and Tables A and 2)

The slower annual growth rate of CMWPI was mainly caused by the lower annual increment of concrete products and cement at 8.4 percent in July 2023 from 8.9 percent in June 2023. Moreover, the year-on-year increases in the indices of the following commodity groups also exhibited downward trend during the month:

f. Electrical works, 5.5 percent from 5.9 percent;
