Year-on-Year

The annual increase in the Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in NCR decelerated to 2.2 percent in November from 3.1 percent in October. The annual rate of adjustment in fuels and lubricants index dropped by -1.5 percent in November from 3.6 percent in October. In addition, slowdowns were observed in the annual hikes of the following indices: sand and gravel (5.2% from 5.3%); lumber (4.2% from 4.4%); reinforcing steel (2.8% from 4.0%); structural steel (4.0% from 4.5%); doors, jambs and steel casement and painting works (3.3% from 3.8%); and PVC pipes (1.7% from 2.1%). Annual changes were however higher in the indices of cement, plywood, G.I. sheet, tileworks, electrical works and plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks. Movement in the machinery and equipment rental index was still zero while the rest of the commodity groups retained their previous month's rate.

Month-on-Month

Compared with October, the month-on-month growth of the CMWPI in NCR continued to decrease as it registered a -0.2 percent drop in November from -0.1 percent in October. This was effected by the decline in the fuels and lubricants index at -2.4 percent from -1.0 percent. Moreover, a slower monthly rate was seen in plywood index at 0.1 percent from 0.5 percent. On the other hand, upward increments were posted in most of the commodity groups while a zero growth was recorded in the indices of concrete products, hardware, glass and glass products, painting works, PVC pipes, asphalt and machinery and equipment rental.

Price rollbacks in gasoline, kerosene and diesel oil were noticed during the period while prices of lumber, cement, floor tiles, gravel and sand, steel bars, angle bars, paints and some electrical works items were on the uptrend.
