  • Year-on-Year

The annual increment in the Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) was recorded at 2.3 percent in June, the same rate registered in June 2013. Last month, it went up by 2.2 percent. Faster annual hikes in the indices of the thirteen commodity groups contributed to the uptrend. On the other hand, the annual growth in fuels and lubricants index was slower at 3.3 percent while the other commodity groups retained their previous month’s rates. The indices of asphalt and machinery and equipment rental posted a zero growth.

  • Month-on-Month

On a monthly basis, the CMWPI in NCR gained 0.4 percent in June. It was pegged at 0.1 percent last month. Higher monthly upticks were observed in the indices of lumber (1.6%); plywood (1.2%); electrical works (0.8%); sand and gravel and concrete products (0.6%); cement; hardware and plumbing fixtures and accessories (0.5%); doors, jambs and steel casement (0.4%); and G.I. sheet (0.1%). However, a decline was still noted in the fuels and lubricants index at -0.1 percent. The indices of the other commodity groups either moved at their previous month’s rates or had zero growths.

Price mark-ups were seen in cement, plywood, lumber, G.I. sheets, angle bars, electrical wires, paints, sand and gravel, selected hardware items and gasoline. Meanwhile, diesel oil was priced lower during the month.
