    On an annual basis, the Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) inched up 2.4 percent in July. Annual growths in the CMWPI were posted at 2.3 percent in June and 2.5 percent in the same month last year. Faster annual gains were registered in the indices of 11 commodity groups with the highest rate observed in plumbing fixtures and accessories index at 6.6 percent. On the other hand, those for the indices in PVC pipes and fuels and lubricants correspondingly decelerated to 3.0 percent and 1.7 percent. The rest of the commodity groups retained their last month’s growths with no movements seen in asphalt and machinery and equipment rental indices.

    From the previous month’s level, the CMWPI in NCR went up but at a slower pace of 0.3 percent in July. Mark-ups in the following indices improved during the month: sand and gravel, 0.1 percent; concrete products, 0.3 percent; plywood, 0.7 percent; lumber, 0.6 percent; doors, jambs and steel casement, 0.3 percent; and plumbing fixtures and accessories, 0.9 percent. However, upward adjustments were noticed in the indices of cement; tileworks; glass and glass products; painting works; and fuels and lubricants. The indices of the other commodity groups either moved at their previous month’s rates or had zero growths.

    Price hikes were noted in sand and gravel, cement, plywood, lumber, G.I. sheets, doors, tiles, paints, electrical wires, some plumbing fixtures, gasoline and fuel oil.
