  • Year-on-Year

On an annual basis, the Construction Materials Wholesale Price Index (CMWPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) further decelerated to 0.8 percent in November. It was 1.6 percent last month and in November 2013, 2.3 percent. This was primarily brought about by the 7.4 percent annual decline in the fuels and lubricants index. Lower annual gains in the indices of the eleven commodity groups also contributed to the downtrend. The rest of the commodity groups retained their last month’s growths while the indices of asphalt and machinery and equipment rental still recorded a zero growth.

  • Month-on-Month

From the previous month’s level, the CMWPI in NCR dropped by 0.4 percent. It resulted from the decreases registered in the indices of fuels and lubricants -3.3 percent and cement, -0.1 percent. In addition, the indices of plywood and structural steel moved at a slower pace of 0.1 percent and electrical works index, 0.2 percent. A higher growth of 0.3 percent was however noted in G.I. sheet index. The rest of the commodity groups either retained their last month’s rate or had a zero growth.

Prices of gasoline, diesel, fuel oil and cement went down during the month. Meanwhile, higher prices were observed in G.I. sheets, sand, gravel, plywood, angle bars, selected electrical works items and some plumbing fixtures and accessories.
