GRPI in NCR picks up in June 2020

The annual rate of GRPI in the National Capital Region (NCR) rose to 1.3 percent in June 2020, after four consecutive months of deceleration. In May 2020, its annual rate was posted at 0.6 percent and in June 2019, 1.1 percent. (Table A and Table 2)

Annual increases were higher in the indices of food at 2.6 percent; beverages and tobacco, 3.8 percent; and crude materials, inedible except fuels, 2.0 percent. In addition, the machinery and transport equipment index went up at an annual rate of 0.2 percent during the month, from a zero annual growth rate in May 2020. A lower annual decline of 8.6 percent was also noted in the index of mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials during the month, from a double-digit annual drop of 18.5 percent in May 2020.

Meanwhile, lower annual increment was noted in the index of chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats at 0.4 percent. The indices of manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials and miscellaneous manufactured articles retained their previous month’s annual growth rates of 1.4 percent and 0.9 percent, respectively.
