The General Retail Price Index (GRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) further slowed down to 0.9 percent in June 2015. It increased by 1.5 percent last month and in June 2014, 2.9 percent. The indices of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials and machinery and transport equipment continued to post negative annual rates of 15.5 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively. In addition, slower annual gains were recorded in the heavily-weighted food index at 2.7 percent; beverages and tobacco index, 4.0 percent; and manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials index, 0.7 percent. A faster annual increase was however, registered in crude materials, inedible except fuels index at 1.2 percent. Movements in the indices of chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats and miscellaneous manufactured articles remained at 1.7 percent.

Compared to its last month’s level, the GRPI in NCR declined by 0.1 percent in June 2015.
The 0.3 percent drop in the heavily-weighted food index was attributed to price cuts in fruits such as banana, pineapple, mango, papaya and matured coconut.
The crude materials inedible except fuels index went down by 0.1 percent due to lower prices of sand.
Price rollbacks in LPG, diesel fuel and kerosene pushed down the index of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials by 0.1 percent.
A 0.1 percent uptick in beverages and tobacco index was due to the increments in the prices of liquors and wines, beer, coca cola drink, and selected cigarettes.
The index of chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats went up 0.2 percent. This was brought about by the price add-ons in selected medicines and cosmetics and toilet preparations.
Price increases in insulated electrical wires effected a 0.3 percent growth in the machinery and equipment index.
Prices of selected textbook, school supplies, candles and toothbrush were quoted higher during the month. Thus, the index of miscellaneous manufactured articles moved up by 0.1 percent.
No movement was still registered in the index of manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials during the month.
