Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT) and Non-FBT Items
(NCR and AONCR - July 2007)

  1. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT items in NCR and AONCR correspondingly went up to 131.1 and 135.3 in July from their respective June levels of 130.4 and 135.0.

Seasonal factors such as the slight weather disturbances generally pushed up prices of FBT items in two areas relative to the expected trend.

Compared to last month, inflation of seasonally adjusted CPI for FBT items in NCR rose to 0.5 percent from 0.2 percent last month, while in AONCR it moved at its previous month's rate of 0.2 percent.

  2. CPI of Non-FBT items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR at 154.5 and 146.9 respectively were higher than their corresponding June levels of 152.5 and 146.6. Seasonal factors such as the practice of increasing the tuition fees every start of the school year raised prices of non-FBT items in the two areas.

The month-on-month inflation of the seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in NCR accelerated to 1.3 percent in July from zero growth in June. In AONCR, movement in the prices of seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items went down to 0.2 percent in July from 0.5 percent last month.
