Antique Registered the Highest Annual Increment in the Value of Production in Agriculture and Fisheries at 5.9 percent in 2021 (At Constant 2018 Prices)

In 2021, Antique registered the highest annual increment of 5.9 percent in the value of production at constant 2018 prices among provinces in Western Visayas. Expansions were also recorded in Capiz at 4.7 percent, Guimaras at 4.7 percent, Negros Occidental at 3.1 percent, and Iloilo at 2.4 percent. On the other hand, Aklan exhibited a -5.3 percent decrease. (Figure 1)

At constant 2018 prices, Negros Occidental was the highest contributor to the total value of production in agriculture and fisheries at 36.6 percent. The province also contributed the highest share for crops at 41.7 percent. For livestock and poultry, Iloilo accounted for the largest share of 39.6 percent and 45.0 percent, respectively. Capiz registered the highest share for fisheries at 31.5 percent.

At current prices, Negros Occidental had the highest value of production in agriculture and fisheries which amounted to PhP 67.10 billion in 2021. Iloilo followed with PhP 61.18 billion. The value of production of the remaining provinces were as follows: Capiz with PhP 23.21 billion, Antique with PhP 12.66 billion, Aklan with PhP 10.08 billion, and Guimaras with PhP 5.14 billion.

The Provincial Value of Production in Agriculture and Fisheries serves as a primary input in the estimation of the Provincial Product Accounts.
