PSA Conducts Consultation Workshops with Stakeholders and Validation of the Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) Benchmark Estimates in the Six Pilot Regions in 2022

As part of the activities related to the compilation of Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) in the six pilot regions, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) recently conducted Consultation Workshops with Stakeholders and Validation of the PPA Benchmark Estimates in the following locations: Eastern Visayas, 09 June 2022; Western Visayas, 13 June 2022; SOCCSKSARGEN, 16 June 2022; Cordillera Administrative Region, 20 June 2022; Davao Region, 23 June 2022; and CALABARZON, 27 June 2022.

In his message, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Dr. Claire Dennis S. Mapa announced that the PSA is on track to meet its target to release the results of the PPA of the six pilot regions, including the updates of the first three pilot regions in December 2022 which will cover the period of 2018 to 2021.  He reiterated that the purpose of PPA is to provide a better picture of the local economies for better planning and policymaking. As he thanked the stakeholders, he further asked for their continuous support to the PPA, to the data collection initiatives, to the policy decision-making bodies such as the Regional Statistical Committees and the Provincial Statistical Committees, and to all the initiatives of the PSA to achieve its mission of delivering relevant and reliable statistics for equitable development towards improved quality of life for all.

The consultation workshops were conducted to present the economic structure of the provinces and Highly Urbanized Cities (HUCs) based on the 2018 benchmark PPA estimates, validate the preliminary estimates and solicit feedback from stakeholders, gather record of important news and list of events to validate the estimates, gather assistance from stakeholders to enhance data support for the completion of PPA, and apprise the stakeholders on the upcoming activities towards finalization of results.

The regional events were attended by different stakeholders in the regions and provinces, including the Local Government Units, Provincial and City Planning and Development Offices, and Regional Line Agencies, among others.

The workshops were facilitated by the Subnational Economic Accounts Division (SEAD) of the Macroeconomic Accounts Service with the cooperation of the respective PSA Regional Statistical Services Offices and Provincial Statistical Offices.
