Price Situationer of Selected Agricultural Commodities Second Phase of May 2021

1. Increases in the average retail prices of a kilogram of special rice, ranging from PhP 0.20 to PhP 1.50, were noted in seven regional centers during the second phase of May 2021 (15 to 17 May 2021), compared with their price levels in the first phase of the May 2021 (01 to 05 May 2021). However, its average retail price per kilogram fell by PhP 0.10 in Kidapawan City, PhP 0.25 in Digos City, and PhP 0.75 in Legazpi City during the period, from their price levels in the first phase of May 2021. (Table 1) 2. Declines in the average retail prices of a kilogram of pork with bones, ranging from PhP 2.50 to PhP 15.00, were registered in eight regional centers during the period, relative to their price levels in the first phase of May 2021. Meanwhile, its average retail price per kilogram picked up by PhP 10.00 in Cabanatuan City in the second phase of May 2021. (Table 2) 3. Varied movements in the average retail prices of a kilogram of galunggong between the second phase and first phase of May 2021, ranging from PhP 4.44 to PhP 20.00, were observed in seven regional centers. (Table 3) 4. On the average, retail prices of vegetables went down in many regional centers during the second phase of May 2021. (Table 4) 5. Price cuts in the average retail prices of a kilogram of red onion, ranging from PhP 5.00 to PhP 15.00, were noted in seven regional centers during the period. On the other hand, its average retail price per kilogram rose by PhP 2.22 in the National Capital Region (NCR) and PhP 5.00 in Baguio City during the second phase of May 2021. (Table 5) 6. Changes in the average retail prices of a kilogram of banana lakatan between the second phase and first phase of May 2021, ranging from PhP 0.88 to PhP 10.00, were seen in nine regional centers. (Table 6) 7. Relative to their price levels in the first phase of May 2021, the average retail prices of a kilogram of refined sugar went up by PhP 0.14 to PhP 1.13 in three regional centers in the second phase of May 2021.
