Price Situationer of Selected Agricultural Commodities First Phase of September 2021

  1. Increases in the average retail prices of a kilogram of well milled rice, ranging from PhP 0.04 to PhP 4.42, were observed in six trading centers during the first phase of September 2021 (01 to 05 September 2021), from their price levels in the second phase of August 2021 (15 to 17 August 2021). On the other hand, its average retail price per kilogram went down by PhP 0.48 to PhP 1.41 in five trading centers during the period. (Table 1)

Relative to their price levels in the second phase of August 2021, the average retail prices of a kilogram of pork with bones declined by PhP 5.00 to PhP 80.00 in six trading centers during the first phase of September 2021. Meanwhile, its average retail price per kilogram rose by PhP 0.50 to PhP 21.67 in five trading centers during the period. (Table 2)

Compared with the price levels in the second phase of August 2021, the average retail prices of a kilogram of galunggong were lower by PhP 3.72 to PhP 80.77 in five trading centers during the first phase of September 2021. However, its average retail price per kilogram during the period was higher by PhP 2.43 to PhP 35.00 in the National Capital Region, Baguio City, San Fernando City (Region 1), Calapan City, and Legazpi City.   4. Lower prices of vegetables at the retail trade, particularly ampalaya and eggplant, were seen in many trading centers during the first phase of September 2021. (Table 4)
  5. The average retail prices of a kilogram of red onion, ranging from PhP 1.34 to PhP 30.00, picked up in nine trading centers during the period, from their price levels in the second phase of August 2021. Its average retail price per kilogram, however, dropped by PhP 5.00 in Calapan City in the first phase of September 2021. (Table 5)
  6. A kilogram of banana lakatan registered price decreases, ranging from PhP 0.87 to PhP 40.00, in eight trading centers during the first phase of September 2021, from their price levels in the second phase of August 2021. On the contrary, its average retail price per kilogram rose by PhP 10.71 in Pagadian City during the period. (Table 6)
  7. The average retail prices of a kilogram of refined sugar inched up by PhP 0.30 in Kidapawan City, by PhP 0.50 in Calapan City, and by PhP 3.76 in Cebu City during the first phase of September 2021. On the other hand, its average retail price fell by PhP 0.10 to PhP 2.23 in three trading centers. (Table 7)
